WTF? Syke No. 9 an Anti-Smoking Campaign?

A while ago I posted an article about the Syke No. 9 girls. Hot girls dancing in a commercial? Who can argue with that? Well, I found out today (from a reader who called me a dumbass) that the people behind the Syke No. 9 ad campaign are the anti-smoking folks.

First, they create a buzz for a product using hot models, something that cigarette companies have been doing for years (and car companies, and clothing companies, and porno companies, for that matter). But the product won’t get FDA approval because of its nine ingredients, apparently the same nine ingredients that are in cigarettes. Somethin’ like that.

If an ad campaign is confusing, it doesn’t work. People are still looking out to see if this product will hit the shelves. Even if the point of this is to mimic the same methods that the tobacco companies have used, their objective still is to reduce smoking. I’d like to see them find one person who is convinced by all of this to stop lighting up. Photos of black lungs do that, not hot women in confusing commercials. To think how much money they’re spending on these ads and what better use they could put it to.
