The Women of Smallville
Smallville is tumbling to the finish of yet another season this Thursday (7 if you’re counting), and while the conjecture was originally abound that this would be the much anticipated last season of young Clark Kent, Smallville will yet march on. So we’ll have to wait for the long-coming series finale when we might see Superman emerge and fly.
That may be a good or bad thing depending on how you view the level of writing (particularly in later seasons), but one this is for sure…the show can bring on the beautiful women. So while we won’t be saying an official goodbye to the series, we certainly won’t be seeing all these women next season, or at least as a frequently as before. Here’s are small tribute to the Women of Smallville:
Kristin Kreuk
Character: Lana Lang
The beautiful Canadian has had a long run as Clark Kent’s original love Lana Lang, but lately started to transition over to feature roles, such as her turn as Chun-Li in Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li.
Lizzy Caplan
Character: Tina Greer
The American actress was a two time “freak of the week” on Smallville before feature roles in Mean Girlsand Cloverfield and a re-occuring role on HBO’s First Blood.
Allison Mack
Character: Chloe Sullivan
The über-cute Mack snatched the role away of Chloe Sullivan from Kristen Bell and has been banging around for eight seasons. The German-born American actress has even tried her hand at directing, taking the reins for the episode “Power”, which aired January 29, 2009.
Chelan Simmons
Character: Felice Chandler
The Canadian actress, professional model, and performer appeared in two episodes of Smallville before appearances in movies like Final Destination 3, John Tucker Must Die, and Good Luck Chuck. Her character on the show, Felice Chandler, was a very popular student at Smallville High who was attacked by thousands of bees and fell into a coma.
Cassidy Freeman
Character: Tess Mercer
Cassidy Freeman’s Tess Mercer is the new acting CEO of LuthorCorp in Season 8, replacing the AWOL Lex Luthor. Her character name “Tess Mercer” is a homage to two characters from Superman lore, Eve Teschmacher and Mercy Graves.
Laura Vandervoort
Character: Kara Zor-El a.k.a. Supergirl
A long time athlete, Vandervoort has played soccer, karate, basketball, tennis, gymnastics, and baseball as a kid. Her atleticism makes her casting as Supergirl more appropriate, and he sci-fi résumé is now beefed up with a role in ABC’s new pilot series of the remake of the classic V.
Charlotte Sullivan
Character: Maxima
Maxima is an alien queen from the planet Almerac who came to Earth searching for her “soul mate.” The only thing I can say is that she’s pretty hot.
Sarah Carter
Character: Alicia Baker
Carter had a breakthrough role for her three episode arc as Alicia Baker, a “meteor freak” who had the ability to teleport herself and other things/people. She even got to have a romantic relationship with Clark Kent, before moving on to feature films and a long time role as Madeleine Poe on Shark.
Emmanuelle Vaugier
Character: Dr. Helen Bryce
Vaugier appeared nine times as Dr. Helen Bryce, a former physician at the Smallville Medical Center and most importantly as wife of Lex Luthor. She’s also appeared alongside Michael Caine and Robert Duvall in Secondhand Lions and as Addison in Saw IIand Saw IV.
Erica Durance
Character: Lois Lane
The alliterative reporter and Canadian actress is a veteran of five seasons and has also been seen in The Chris Isaak Show, Tru Calling, and Stargate SG-1.
