Ten New Sexy Faces of Modern Horror
For years, horror movies have always been about two major things: buckets of red, red gore and as much T and A as one could conceivably cram onto the screen. Story often took a backseat, right along with an understandable plot. No one seemed to care just as long as the blood kept flowing and the boobs kept bouncing. But somewhere between the Friday the 13th’s of the 70′s and 80′s, and the Candyman’s of the 90′s, horror began to transform.
Much like a theme and narrative version of Dr. Jeckyll and Mr. Hyde, horror films took a huge step in a new and better direction where directors and writers began to care about the stories, yet still equally balanced them with the already heavy splatter and, as always, abundance of sexiness. So as the new millennium was ushered in, so were to new styles of horror and an entirely new set of incredibly sexy scream queens to watch out for.

For years there really had only been one tried and true series of films meant specifically for Halloween, and those were, of course, Halloween and its myriad sequels. But then came Trick ‘R Treat. The story follows four different happenings that occur throughout one city on Halloween. This might be one of the greatest Halloween movies of all time, and it just so happens to feature the very sexy Lauren Lee Smith.

When it comes to outright disturbing horror movies, Martyrs absolutely wins hands down. The story revolves around two girls, one of which spends the majority of the film being tortured and psychologically destroyed only to eventually find herself completely flayed. And that woman is our number 9: Morjana Alaoui.

With a pocketful of drugs, Nick West takes out his girlfriend Sammy, for a good time. When they explore an abandoned asylum, the discovery of a bizarre device, a cross between an electric chair and sadistic fetish machine, transforms drugged-out bliss into agony and despair. An excellent and woefully under-seen flick starring Pollyanna Rose.

For a long time, thanks in large part to The Blair Witch Project, P.O.V. horror flicks have kind of been done to death. Only once in a great while does a different twist on the genre really come along, and [REC] is definitely that film. Here we see a hungry reporter sticking around a local firehouse after hours when trouble rears its head and they must head to an apartment building to find out what’s happening. That’s when the gore hits the fan. Manuela Volasco is the reporter, and is gorgeous even in distress.

After losing her unborn child, Madeline Matheson insists on carrying the baby to term. Following the delivery, the child miraculously returns to life with an appetite for human blood. Derivative? Maybe, but it’s scary and filthy as hell. And Jordan Ladd is mesmerizing.

I found this on IMDB and I couldn’t have said it better myself: “On the night of the big High-School Prom, the dead rise to eat the living, and the only people who can stop them are the losers who couldn’t get dates to the dance.” Oh, and they forgot to mention that Carissa Capobianco is cute as a damn button!

So, have you ever wanted to see an overtly allegorical flick totally about a woman and her fear of adolescence and adulthood that also happens to feature a vagina with actual teeth? Yeah, you have! Jess Weixler steals it all day.

I am such a saturated and jaded horror fan that it literally takes something so fresh and new to scare me that I’ve remained relatively fear-free for years. So it pains me to admit, that even though Paranormal Activity has some serious jump scares and definite true scare moments, I was more interested in Katie Featherston and her huge… eyes. She was amazing a mile better than her male counterpart. She was especially freaky and kinda cute at the very end…

Danielle Harris has become one of the new faces of horror. She has appeared in tons of great flicks including the remakes of Halloween and Halloween 2, Halloween 4 and 5, Urban Legend, Left for Dead, Stake Land, and, of course the amazing Hatchet saga, which is soon to have a third part added. She’s not only a brilliant actress, but a sexy one as well.

Laid to Rest was a pleasant surprise. First off, it was a really well done slasher flick with a pretty decent story. It was bloody, it was fun, and there was a nice coating of humor just like every splatter movie should have. But, above all else -yes, even above Chromeskull- was the heroine, Bobbi Sue Luther. Sadly, not naked, but damn… it also helped that she was a good actress. And has boobs.
