Ronda Rousey : Rising MMA Star

Ronda Rousey is an American judoka and mixed martial artist and the current Strikeforce Women’s Bantamweight Champion. If you’re not an MMA fan, than you likely didn’t know who she was until ESPN released their recent Body Issue. Now it’s pretty tough to go anywhere on the internet without hearing about the next Gina Carano. Although she is currently the #1-ranked pound-for-pound female MMA fighter in the world by MMARising.com, she is still relatively new to the octagon with only 5 bouts.

Her career actually began in Judo, and at just 17, Rousey qualified for the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, becoming the youngest judo player in the entire Games. She returned to the Olympics in 2008, where she took home the Bronze medal, which clearly explains the Olympic Rings tattoo seen in the Body Issue.

Since then it is obvious that Ronda Rousey has been working on both her fighting and her fitness, and more recently has turned into a bit of a model. She is even credited for introducing trash talking into Women’s MMA, and famously recently stated that she wants to beat the crap out of Kim Kardashian.
