Gunaxin had the pleasure of meeting 2009 Miss District of Columbia Jennifer Corey in October. Miss Corey will be representing Washington in the Miss America pageant on Jan. 30 in Las Vegas. Corey, 22, is a cum laude graduate of American University and a music major. She works with the Washington National Opera, and was a featured soprano soloist with the AU Symphony Orchestra.

Her platform, Let’s Talk Trash, brings awareness about the importance of recycling. She also works with Goodwill of Greater Washington, Got Your Back (a nonprofit that helps kids of fallen soldiers), and Waste Management’s Recycle America Campaign. Donate here to the Children’s Miracle Network.
