Miss America 2009 Katie Stam
On Saturday, January 24th, 2009 Miss Indiana Katie Stam was crowned Miss America 2009. You might have checked out our Miss America Primer, which has photos of all 52 contestant, and chosen your favorites. In the end though, it was Miss Indiana who won over judges and America with her glamor and talent. Despite battling a throat infection and laryngitis throughout the week, she drew loud applause for her rendition of “Via Dolorosa” in the talent portion of the contest. The night also saw Stam strut onstage in a black bikini and an off-the-shoulder, white lace gown.
The 22-year-old University of Indianapolis student is a communications major and plans to work in television news. At least once her Miss America duties are completed. The first runner-up was Miss Georgia Chasity Hardman, and she was followed by Miss Iowa Olivia Myers, Miss New York Leigh Taylor Smith, and Miss Florida Sierra Minott in that order. Here are some photos of the lovely Miss Stam.
