Danica Patrick: Daytona Pole Sitter
Danica Patrick has long been considered just another also-ran in her attempt to become a contender in NASCAR’s Sprint Cup. All that changed this past weekend, when Patrick became the first woman to ever win the pole for an event in NASCAR’s top series. Adding increased significance to the accomplishment is that is came in qualifying for the Daytona 500, the series’ premier event. With Danica opening the 2013 Sprint Cup season as a legitimate contender for the first time, we decided to remember that, while she’s not just a pretty face, she still has that going for her.
